Report Card

It was bad.  No getting around it.  Certainly no point in trying to spin the jobs report.  I was surprised romney crowed so quietly.  Obama's attempt waas severely lame.

The only thing that can beat Romney now is Romney.  Given him, that remains a possibility.  But regime change is getting more and more likely.

Liberals who are crying for O. to make a big infrastructure pitch are probably wrong.  It will seem like a Madonna pass and the GOP will make mincemeat of it.

No, the only strategy is the one Ann Romney had identified:  Kill hubby.  It can be done, but the ammunition must be factual.  No cant.

Down Time

It's probably unfair to beat up on Romney over his manse on Lake Winnepesaukee.  We all know the guy's rich, really rich.  But so what?

On the other hand, there's what they call the optics of it.  Because there's always the matter of how The Candidate got that rich.  There are some indications that people have some issues about vulture capitalsm.

The Romneys may also have a tad of an optics problem with publicly attending Mormon services on vacation.  Like  it or not, that bothers some people too.

The trouble is that, except for True Conservatives and other rich people -- and these are overlapping categories -- Romney makes a bad impression on people.

Obama is spending a long weekend at Camp David away from cameras -- except maybe the White House photographer's -- then on The Fourth he'll be holding a picnic on the White House lawn after a military ceremony.  Better optics.
